St. Luke’s Medical Center Recognized for Sustainable Green Healthcare at the 2025 ACES Awards
St. Luke’s Medical Center is the only hospital in the Philippines to receive the 2025 Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability (ACES) Community Initiative Award, a prestigious regional honor recognizing organizations that demonstrate exceptional green healthcare leadership, purpose-driven governance, and measurable sustainable impact across Asia.
This achievement follows St. Luke’s earlier recognition as one of Asia’s Best Performing Companies at the 2023 ACES Awards. It highlights the hospital’s ongoing leadership in excellent operations, innovation, and responsible healthcare.
The 2025 ACES Awards, themed “Leading with Purpose,” recognized St. Luke’s for advancing green healthcare through its Culture of Care. This approach weaves sustainability into clinical practice, hospital operations, and community work. The ACES Council praised St. Luke’s for “elevating community health through an integrated Culture of Care model that connects clinical excellence with on-the-ground social impact,” showing that environmental responsibility and patient care can progress together.
Green Healthcare in Action: The Culture of Care
St. Luke’s leads in green healthcare with its Culture of Care program, making sustainability a key part of the patient experience. By working with local artisans and farmer groups, the hospital provides eco-friendly items like handcrafted soaps, woven blankets, and slippers through responsible sourcing and community partnerships.
St. Luke’s “plastic to purpose” initiative has changed how patients are welcomed. Every patient room now includes sustainable, eco-friendly bathroom amenities. This makes St. Luke’s a leader in adding environmental care to hospital services. The initiative has:
- Eliminated over 2.3 million plastic bottles
- Generated Php 96 million in livelihood income
- Benefited more than 300 families across 12 rural communities
