Despite the global pandemic,  graduates of the Doctor of Medicine program of St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine (SLMCCM) officially marked their academic milestone in SLMCCM’s 22nd Commencement Exercises held virtually on August 20, 2020. Prioritizing safety and following quarantine guidelines, the online event was successfully organized by the college management for the graduates.

The virtual graduation included inspiring messages from St. Luke’s Medical Center President and CEO, Dr. Arturo S. De La Peña,  former DOH Secretary, Dr. Manuel Dayrit, and St. Luke’s Medical Center Chairman of the Board, Frederick Y. Dy. The presentation of candidates was made more meaningful with the sharing of messages from each graduate. The presentation of special awardees and valedictory address were equally momentous.

Quickly adapting to COVID-19 strict precautionary measures and guidelines, SLMCCM is also one of the few medical schools in the country able to immediately transition to online-based learning.

With an integrated digital ecosystem, the College continues to provide students with a curriculum that is fully aligned with the Commission for Higher Education program and institutional learning outcomes.

For the academic year 2020 to 2021, students can expect online classes and mini-lectures, digital learning materials and assessment tools, and interactive group activities covering essential academic competencies including clinical reasoning and laboratory skills. This is all part of the College’s SPRITe program (“School Project for Resiliency using Innovative Technology”) whose aim is to provide an alternative avenue for learning – in the works even prior to the pandemic.

SLMCCM offers a five-year curriculum leading to a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) with a guaranteed 1-year internship program in St. Luke’s Medical Center. The College has also been consistent with acquiring a 100% passing rate in physician licensure exams over several years.

St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine (SLMCCM) is the medical school of St. Luke's Medical Center, recognized as one of the most prestigious hospitals in the Philippines.
