The Christmas season sparkles with new beginnings for St. Luke’s Medical Center with the appointment of its new Medical Directors effective December 1, 2017. Dr. Brian Michael I. Cabral and Dr. Benjamin S. A. Campomanes, Jr. take the lead as the new Senior Vice Presidents and Heads of the Medical Practice Groups and Medical Directors of St. Luke’s Global City and St. Luke’s Quezon City, respectively.

Dr. Cabral served as the Assistant Medical Director and is the former Head of the Center for Renal Diseases of St. Luke’s Global City. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of the Philippines and did his residency in Internal Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Akron General in Akron, Ohio. He went on to complete his fellowship in Nephrology and Hypertension as well as his fellowship in Transplant Nephrology at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.

He is a recipient of the Balik Scientist Program Award given by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and currently sits on the Review Board for the International Nephrology and Urology Journal. Most recently, Dr. Cabral obtained his Masters in Medical Management at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Benjamin S. A. Campomanes, Jr., on the other hand, was the Assistant Head for Professional Services of St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City from 2012 to 2017 prior to his new position. He was also the former Chairman of the Department of ENT - Head & Neck Surgery at St. Luke’s Quezon City from 2006 to 2009, and Chairman of the same Department in St. Luke’s Global City from 2012 to 2014.

He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Santo Tomas, and took his residency training in ENT - HNS in the same Institution. He has a subspecialty in Rhinology with Clinical Fellowships in Charing Cross/Royal Brompton Hospital, University of Utrecht, and University of Graz.

Before his recent appointment, Dr. Campomanes was an Associate Professor at the University of Santo Tomas College of Medicine and Surgery, and an Off-Country Asia Pacific Medical Expert for GlaxoSmithKline.

With Dr. Cabral and Dr. Campomanes at the helm of each of its hospitals, St. Luke’s Medical Center is set to relentlessly pursue further excellence, pioneer more novel innovations, and further maintain its status as the country’s healthcare frontrunner and one of the world’s best hospitals.
