Reflecting on his journey, Interventional Cardiologist, Dr. George Cordova joined St. Luke's after passing his board exam in 2012. "I was invited here to be part of the pioneer batch of internal medicine training residents. I took a leap of faith, and here I am," he shared.

With the Adult Cardiology fellowship program still in its infancy, Interventional-Structural Cardiologist, Dr. Kristoffer Vincent Tanseco was also initially apprehensive about entering St. Luke’s. “But because it was backed by cardiologists that I respect, I took that chance, and I’ve never looked back,” he said.

For Dr. Fe-Aileen Arellano-Simon, Echocardiographer, the quality of mentorship was a pivotal factor in her decision to join St. Luke’s. "My mentors in Internal Medicine are from St. Luke’s. So, I chose an institution where they were trained," she explained.

Dr. Alinaya Cordero embarked on her St. Luke’s journey as a fellow for Cardiology and Clinical Research in Echocardiography. “I’m also very fortunate that St. Luke’s granted me a scholarship abroad for my cardiac MRI,” she said.

Dr. Sheryll Santos-Tuscano who’s also specializing in Echocardiography, appreciates how her training in a government hospital complements the environment offered at St. Luke's. "Having access to cutting-edge technology, resources, and experts at St. Luke's, I know my skills will be honed here,” she said.

Dr. Marian Joy Lopez, Echocardiographer, worked in a public hospital before joining St. Luke’s. Dr. Lopez learned the importance of being empathetic to patients. “You have to explain everything that’s happening to them, which I appreciate,” she said.

Recognizing St. Luke's as a provider of the best care in the country, Dr. Fontini Christi Carbon-Cuenca chose the institution for its cutting-edge technology, resources, and comprehensive knowledge necessary to be an effective Echocardiographer.

Dr. Andrew Lawrence Tojino, a proud homegrown doctor of the hospital, finished his medical school at St. Luke's College of Medicine and completed his medical internship at the Quezon City branch. “After training as an internist I decided to come back to St. Luke’s to train as an Interventional Cardiologist because of its esteemed name in cardiology training in fellowship,” he affirmed.

The undertaken journeys undertaken by these exceptional doctors at St. Luke’s stand as a vivid testament to the hospital’s unwavering commitment to nurturing a culture steeped in care and compassion. At St. Luke’s, the essence of exceptional cardiovascular care transcends the boundaries of clinical proficiency. It encompasses a profound dedication to fostering doctors’ personal and professional growth, cultivating empathy as a cornerstone, and ultimately leading to improved patient care and better overall well-being for all stakeholders.
