HEARING & BALANCE DISORDERS LABORATORY
With the increase in the prevalence of hearing loss due to various causes (e.g. congenital, ear infections, noise, ototoxic drugs, age, etc.), the Hearing and Balance Laboratory was established in order to help patients with hearing loss, ringing in the ears, and dizziness.
The facility offers a wide array of scientifically accepted hearing evaluation procedures for patients of all ages. The Laboratory also caters to the assessment of dizzy patients using state-of-the-art audiological and vestibular diagnostic technologies.
The Center also houses innovative therapeutic modalities, utilized by experts in the field to ensure a more comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to quality hearing care.
The hearing loss and vestibular evaluation and management protocols of the Laboratory are guided by current globally-accepted scientific evidence as well, providing a niche for higher learning, skills training, and scholarly pursuits through research.
The Hearing and Balance Laboratory of St. Luke’s Medical Center Quezon City has been instrumental to the fulfillment of two important milestones in Philippine medical history: the first cochlear implantation in the country conducted in 1997, and the establishment of the first universal newborn hearing-screening program dating back to 2004.
